John P. Hammerstein, M.D. earned his medical degree from The Indiana University School of Medicine. He went on to finish a five year orthopaedic residency at Michigan State University. Following the residency program, Dr. Hammerstein traveled to Scottsdale Arizona where he spent a one-year fellowship with renowned spine surgeon Dr. Edward Dohring at The Spine Institute of Arizona. The focus of the fellowship was on reconstruction of degenerative conditions of the neck and back (i.e. sciatica, scoliosis, and herniated discs), the handling of occupational injuries related to the spine, and learning how to establish a multi-disciplinary center for the treatment of spine disorders. Dr. Hammerstein is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
